Bio
Dr Maggie Parke Fan Engagement & Adaptation Specialist / [email protected] | parkelife.org Maggie is a specialist in fan engagement, adaptation, and multi-platform storytelling, with a PhD in Film & Digital Media. She combines academic expertise with hands-on production experience to design audience engagement strategies that foster genuine, participatory communities, tapping into fandom energy and passion.
Her research includes work on major global franchises such as Twilight and Captain America, while her creative work includes producing, directing, and editing projects connected to Tolkien studies, including Rings & Realms and The Knewbettification of the Silmarillion. This combination of scholarship and practice allows her to bridge the worlds of academia and filmmaking, through storytelling, fandom, and production.
As a freelance script editor and development consultant, Maggie has supported numerous independent filmmakers and organisations (BFI, Ffilm Cymru, AHRC, numerous universities and production companies), helping strengthen story, pacing, and character while shaping projects for stronger audience connection. She also lectures and runs workshops internationally, coaching creatives to communicate their vision clearly to audiences, funders, and press. Originally from the United States and based in Wales for more than 20 years, Maggie came to the UK to study King Arthur and turn her geeky dreams into grown-up realities. She works to connect local stories with global audiences. Her work with Study in Wales, Ffilm Cymru, and Welsh universities reflects her commitment to raising Wales’s creative profile internationally through partnerships, campaigns, and events.
Alongside her role as Studio Director at Signum Studios (studios.signumuniversity.org), Maggie specialises in community-led audience growth and authentic fan engagement. She helps creators refine their narrative branding, communication, and outreach — building communities that don’t just watch stories, but believe in them and carry them forward.
